Springdale Chicks
|
The Springdale Chicks are a community-minded organization. We encourage our girls to participate in activities that benefit others, to think outside of themselves and attempt to make the world a better place. The Chicks are ringing bells for the Salvation Army red kettle campaign during the 2006 holiday season. We've put in 100 hours of community service hours to this project so far! The money collected for the Salvation Army is used throughout the year to clothe, feed and take care of those in need in the Springdale area. Our biggest endeavor to date is the first annual Pitch for the Cure™ tournament in June 2006. We've partnered with the Ozark Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for this event. A percentage of profits will be donated to the OzarkAffiliate, plus each team is asked to bring a team challenge donation. Along with the 68 teams that attended, we raised $10,000.00 for Ozark Komen during our first event!! This money will assist with education, treatment and the prevention of breast cancer. We are now preparing for Pitch for the Cure 2007! Our Chicks participated in the Race for the Cure in April 2006 with a team of 28 players, family and friends! In September 2005, the Chicks held a car wash for team funds and set aside a portion for hurricane disaster relief:
